Audience Feedback

We showed our documentary to a variety of people, and asked for their feedback. We found this very useful and made some necessary changes in response to their comments.

Magazine Advert

I created my magazine advert on Microsoft Publisher. I used my own photograph of a CCTV camera for the title image and edited this on PhotoImpact, making it black and white and adding a grain effect.

All the other photographs are screen shots taken from our documentary, apart from one which is a picture from Channel 4's Big Brother.

To create the small advert used at the bottom of my article we used Paint and Adobe Fireworks. We faded the flag on Fireworks, and used the smudge tool to make it fade into the background.

Creating our Radio Advert

We began by scripting our advert. We wanted to put across the point that CCTV effects everyone, which is why we wanted to use lots of different voices.

"In the bank

On the train

Down my road

By my car

At my school

They’re always watching.."

Change of Supporting Piece Idea

After discussing our support pieces, we decided to change our group piece from the advertising pack, to a radio advert. We made this decision because we feel that making a radio advert would be more challenging and interesting as it is something none of us have done before.

Music

We created background music on Garageband. We wanted to find something that didn't take away from the video or voice-over, but still helped to create the right atmosphere.
We found two tracks and mixed them together on Garageband.

We then edited this mix into iMovie.

Voice Over

After finishing all the editing, we recorded and edited the voice over. We recorded it on the Yeti microphone.

We then had to change the volume of all the clips so that the audio from the video was quieter than the music and the voice-over.

Anonymous Interview

We wanted to create an anonymous interview, where the identity of the speaker is protected. Unfortunately the actress we were going to use wasn't available, so one of our group members (Chloe) agreed to be interviewed.

Editing

We then had to edit Mr Scullys interview into our documentary.
We detached the sound from his interview and put the sound on top of other shots of around the school to break his interview up and illustrate his points.

We then edited the rest of our footage. We used several tools:

- We used the 'Stabilisation' tool to make the shots more steady.

- Whilst filming our clips, we avoided zooming in with the cameras, as we found that zooming made the shot unsteady and unclear. Instead, we used the tool 'Ken Burns' on iMovie in editing to replace zooms.

- We put a caption saying 'Coming Up' on the last clip.

- We edited all of our archive clips of newspaper cuttings and website screenshots, and made them very fast paced by making each clip no longer than 0.5 seconds.

Interview

As we decided we couldn't really use the interview with the shopkeeper, we needed to think of some more ideas for another interview. One of our ideas when we began the project was to interview a teacher at a school with CCTV to get their views and to talk about any controversy surrounding it.
