Supporting Pieces
As a group we have decided to do an advertising pack, including a billboard poster, a bus stop poster and a magazine advert. We have also chosen our individual pieces, and I have decided to do a magazine interview.
Today we brainstormed some ideas for our advertising pack. We felt we needed something striking and eye catching, which would attract the public to watch our documentary.
As CCTV is a topic which effects everyone, we thought it was important to engage the public on a personal level through the posters. We did some research into bus stop advertising, and found out that there are now posters around which respond to people looking at them. We thought this could be interesting to use, as it makes them interactive.

Althought we liked this idea, we thought this might be a bit too complicated for our project, so we started to draw some drafts.

Interviewing

-Has CCTV proved useful in your shop?
-Do you personally feel safer with CCTV?
-How long have you had it installed?

Archive Footage
I found some archive footage from BBC news which would be good to include before our section on the 'Internet Eyes' website:

It is only a few seconds long, as we want to make sure our documentary is mainly our own footage. Archive footage will add some variety and this news report shows that the topic of CCTV is relevant at the moment and features in the news regularly.
We wanted to credit the BBC in our documentary, so we added a caption at the bottom of the screen during this clip which says 'BBC News'.

Interviews
We interviewed some people about their thoughts on CCTV on Weybridge Highstreet. Their answers varied from positive to negative views and include some interesting points to use in our documentary. We edited some of these interviews in, however the sound quality isn't as good as we had hoped because we filmed it near a main road, so we want to try and re-film some sections.

More editing...
As we have basically finished our opening, we can begin to edit some of the footage we have for our main documentary.
I scanned in some newspaper cuttings showing positive and negative headlines about CCTV and the surveillance society. I edited these together to make a short sequence using Windows Movie Maker, so that we could then use this in our documentary.

First Draft of Opening
Now we have finished all the initial editing for our opening we put it together with the voice-over.

We had to add an extra clip of a CCTV poster as we couldn't fit all of the dialogue we wanted into our original footage. Now our intro is about 20 seconds, which still leaves us lots of time for our main documentary.
As this was just our first attempt at the opening, we still have some changes we want to make:
-The voice-0ver needs to be louder than the music
-The font at the end needs to be changed to a more interesting one
We are going to change the font at the end to this:

We had to make this on www.cooltext.com as the fonts on iMovie weren't working.
